ALMA Hotel Residence opened with festivities

ALMA Hotel Residence was handed over to the Joint ALMA Observatory in the opening festivity. The event was attended by the ALMA Board and the directors of ESO, NAOJ and NRAO, and naturally also the architects who designed the building. The photo on the left shows the ALMA Director, Pierre Cox, Aino Partanen, Erkki Partaken and Sinikka Kouvo, and ESO's Director General, Tim de Zeeuw. The photo on the right shows the main building and dormitories lit by the evening sun.

ALMA Atacama hotel residence for scientists completed

The hotel residence for scientists in the Atacama Desert in Chile is being furnished at the moment. The residence will be taken into use in the beginning of 2018. These photos of the completed project reflect the mysterious atmosphere of the Atacama desert.
Purchase in architectural competition

Kouvo & Partanen Architects has received a purchase prize in the open Kuopion soiva ja sykkivä sydän architectural competition. The task in the two-phase competition was to design an upper secondary school, a hotel and congress centre and residencial block in the centre of Kuopio city in eastern Finland. The task also included designing the vast park areas on the shores of Kallavesi lake.

Exhibition in Venice Architecture Biennale now open

Our office is on display in Venice Architecture Biennale 2016 in Time Space Existence –exhibition. The exhibition comprises three parts: The Scale of the Unknown presents ALMA Atacama Hotel Residence for Scientists, which is under construction in the Andes in Chile; Through Sound, Movement and Light presents Tampere Music Academy House, which is in planning phase; and Memory and Experience presents the works of the office with some completed projects.
